HTTP – The SoCS’s First GSLC
Warning : There are so many abbreviations in this post, so bear with me!
Right now you must be wondering that the title makes no sense at all. However, for those who have read all my previous posts, you should’ve known that SoCS stands for “School of Computer Science” while GSLC stands for “Guided Self-Learning Class”. Then what does HTTP stands for?
“H” on HTTP stands for “Himpunan Mahasiswa Teknik Informatika”, shortened as “HIMTI”. HIMTI is a student community which copes all students from SoCS faculty. This means all students from Computer Science (TI), Mobile App & Tech (MAT), Game App & Tech (GAT), Cyber Security (CS), Computer Science Double Degree (TI+Math and TI+Statistics), and Master Track Computer Science (MTI) are officially members of HIMTI. Well, actually they made it into official members thanks to HTTP.
Okay, on more serious notes. HTTP I’m talking about is not “Hypertext Transfer Protocol”. HTTP stands for “HIMTI Togetherness & Top Performances”. HTTP is basically an annual gathering activity for all HIMTI new recruits, so HTTP 2016 is exclusive for Binusian SoCS 2020. HTTP was held on September 10th, 2016 at BPPT II Building from 9AM til finish. In order to attend this event, a ticket costs 150,000 Rupiah is needed. Below are the benefits of purchasing HTTP ticket :
- You will be able to attend Pengenalan Bahasa C (PBC) course, which is a course for learning basic concept of C programming language.
- You will be given HIMTI Exclusive Pin, Merchandise, and HIMTI Kit (series of useful software for supporting your study in SoCS).
- You will earn SAT Points.
- And of course you will be able to join and enjoy HTTP itself, including free transport and lunch.
HTTP 2016 rundown :
- Performance by Peanut Butter Band
- Welcoming Speech from Vice Rector, Program Leaders, and HIMTI Presidents
- Solo Performance by Adam Sidqon
- Games
- Lunch Break
- Talk show by Alumni Binusian 2016 (Computer Science program)
- Games
- Visualization Drama
- Hexion Introduction
- Break
- Modern Dance by Revolution
- Performance by Vibing High Band
- HIMTI Binusian 2020 Inauguration
- Doorprize Announcement
- Performance by DJ Angello
These are my personal impression and suggestions (maybe can be used in HTTP 2017 and so on) :
For me, 150.000 Rupiah is worth for all the benefits I can get. I must say that HTTP is nicely done. Too bad they had to skip the last part of Zootopia ahaha… Anyway, the performances were great, especially the visualization drama, which was TRULY entertaining. The welcoming speech and introduction to Program Leaders and Team should be no longer than 30 mins (else it would rise boredom). And for the lunch, well it would be perfect if the spoon was a little more solid to fight the food. The talk show was nice and motivating. Games were good. Hexion introduction was cool , I’m looking forward to Hexion itself. About the breaks, either they should be briefer a bit (to save time), or add more stands for us to explore. The doorprize announcement was bad though because I didn’t get any (just joking!). On top of everything else, I’m proud to be an official member of HIMTI after the inauguration.
End of story : HTTP is actually a field trip GSLC, and this article is actually the assignment. Therefore, thank you for reading my assignment! 🙂
